My Story

The day before my wedding in April 2007, I had my second cigar experience while celebrating with a few friends at a local cigar bar and lounge in Washington, DC. While enjoying the evening, one of my friends blessed the group with cigars to kick off the celebration. Everyone in the room appeared to be enjoying a good smoke and cocktail, which made it a bit enticing to do the same.

I recall smoking a meticulously crafted, premium hand-rolled cigar, and I was immediately captivated. My intention wasn't to adopt cigar smoking as a passing trend. The encounter had to resonate with authenticity; I aspired to develop into a true connoisseur of the experience.

I wanted to be knowledgeable and gain a complete understanding of the world of cigars, so the next week I purchased a book “The Complete Guide to Cigars” by Steve Luck. Next I ordered several cigar sample packs from one of the major online cigar stores. Four humidors and over a thousand cigars later, I still enjoy learning more and more about the Leaf.

The world of premium cigars is vast, and as a connoisseur there exists a wealth of knowledge to learn; from the various regions of cultivation, the makers and blenders, to understanding your pallet, and even pairing a cigar with wines and spirits.

As a Leaf Connoisseur, my journey towards becoming a true Aficionado persists, marked by constant growth in knowledge and comprehension. Since its one of my greatest passions, it will always be a high priority of memorable experiences and connections. Whether it’s at a local cigar lounge, tailgating, a family barbecue, a social venue, or even my mancave.

Every smoker has a story, but in the end it’s all about the leaf.
